Jonathan Ahmet, our CEO, is the Founder of Enigma Therapeutics LLC in the US and concurrently serves as the Director of its complimentary subsidiary Enigma Therapeutics India Private Limited.

Graduating in 2013 with a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Sussex in Brighton, UK, he specialized in organic chemistry. His focus on molecules targeting neglected diseases and the central nervous system during summer placements and a master's project demonstrated his dedication to impactful research. He also spent his third year on a study abroad exchange at Waterloo University in Ontario, Canada, where he developed a keen interest for natural products when enrolled in an international student lab programme that focused on the synthesis of the kinamycin antibiotics and its analogues.

 
Opting for industry experience over a Ph.D, his professional journey commenced at RedX Oncology in Liverpool, UK, where he held a pivotal role as a synthetic organic/medicinal chemist developing cancer drugs, followed by a similar position at Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute. He then ventured into contract work at Charnwood Molecular, a Contract Research Organization (CRO) in Nottingham, UK where he worked across many projects targeting a range of disease areas. He then obtained a position at GW Pharmaceuticals, where he contributed to the development of cannabinoid medicines.

Throughout his career, Jonathan has undertaken several global freelance roles in scientific journal editing and chemistry consultation, the latter leading to the direction and management of custom synthesis projects with CROS in Bangladesh, China, and India. Leveraging this extensive experience, he founded Enigma Therapeutics LLC in the US and is currently establishing a complementary Indian subsidiary.
